Stephanye Watts

Growing up in a home filled with art, Stephanye developed an early appreciation for collecting and the stories behind the works that surrounded her. "A house without art doesn't feel like a home to me," she says, reflecting a lifelong belief that art is integral to everyday life. Today, her collection of approximately fifteen works focuses primarily on contemporary Black artists, with a particular affinity for abstract compositions and vibrant palettes of pink, light blue, and yellow.

Stephanye approaches collecting intuitively, often discovering artists through social media and acquiring works that genuinely resonate with her rather than following market trends. Her advice to emerging collectors is simple: develop your own aesthetic, buy what you love, and let your collection reflect your own perspective—not someone else's.
