Stephanie A Daniel
As a young child Stephanie Daniel was exposed to art in many forms. Growing up in and around Boston Massachusetts, her mom and her aunt made sure to take her to local galleries, the big museums and art festivals as well. She was raised to appreciate art, and original paintings hung on the living room walls in her home. Some of these paintings were the works of friends of her mother.
Art was her favorite subject in grade school. Stephanie was creative and she realized she could draw and paint better than her classmates. Many years later in high school, she took college art history classes, thus beginning her journey as an artist and art enthusiast. She completed a junior-year abroad program attending The Byam Shaw School of Drawing and Painting in London, England, graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art/Art History.
Her interest in art and sharing her creative gifts led her to become an art educator in the School District of Philadelphia. She received her Masters of Science Degree in Art Education from Saint Joseph’s University.

Collecting African American art is a natural passion considering her background. Upon moving to Philadelphia and working with the October Gallery African American Art Expo over the years has been rewarding and has allowed her to collect a myriad of pieces that fill the walls in her home. From the smooth pastel images of Laurie Cooper to the thick palette knife paintings of Samuel Benson and Andrew Turner (all Philadelphia artists) among others, her collection is unique and reflects her travels around the world, her knowledge of art and its origins, and the vibrant images that keep her collection fresh, ever-changing and forever a part of her every-day life.
