Donnell & Dorothea Walker
Donnell Walker, born March 17, 1962, in Philadelphia, discovered his passion for art at age eight and studied at the Fleisher Art Memorial, where early exposure to diverse disciplines shaped his lifelong commitment to the visual arts. Walker began collecting African American art in 1992, inspired by Romare Bearden, Charles White, Dox Thrash, and Jacob Lawrence, and strengthened through relationships with Elizabeth Catlett, Sam Gilliam, David Driskell, Barbara Bullock, and Deryl Mackie.
Walker continues to build a vibrant collection celebrating African American culture, history, and artistic excellence, transforming his home into a living gallery while mentoring and supporting fellow collectors and artists.
